OK, we're a tad behind our original departure date. Could be tomorrow, Thursday at the latest.
Despite our best list-making, plans, and action, it always takes us longer to close up the house. We'll be gone for over five months so must make sure we've got exactly what we need. This year's travel takes us to Alaska; cold weather clothing is a given. Four seasons of clothing. And this time, more reference material...much more!
Is it my imagination or does our house quadruple in size while packing up and cleaning it? This is only our 2nd end-of-season departure from our new house. "When will we be GOOD at it?", she wails!
Big challenge: downsizing from a 26 cu. ft. fridge/freezer to a 12 cu. ft. No matter how I try to trim down the contents before leaving, I either have to give some stuff away or toss it.
Today, Tuesday, is our hardest one - toting, cleaning, stowing, securing. I hope we finish! More later...a postscript...we didn't leave until Friday, as you'll see!!
